The Punch reports that the former governor of Lagos state made his revelation at the 70th birthday anniversary of social commentator and National Democratic Coalition chieftain, Professor Segun Gbadegesin, on Monday, December 21, in Lagos.

The APC chieftain noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ruled Nigeria for 16 years because opposition parties failed to unite.

Recalling the elections in 2011, Tinubu said that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) presented separate presidential candidates and the PDP leveraged on the small size of these parties.

Tinubu also recalled that the leaders of smaller parties used to make themselves the presidential candidates, thereby causing division within their parties.
