In an attempt to get the boy to confess to the crime, he tied the hands and feet of Emmanuel, and locked him in a room at the bar until the next day.


Around 11:30 p.m., Shittu poured gasoline on Emmanuel, and set him on fire. Witnesses at the scene quickly came to the boy’s aid and extinguished the flames.
 Emmanuel was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where he was said to be in serious but stable condition. By the time police arrived at the bar, Shittu had already fled.
